Trip 14: July 31 – August 3, 2023

Early Spring, Early Fall?

Sometimes we feel like a farmer. Our world revolves each day around the weather and it’s changes. Like all humans do, we look for patterns. Subtleties of temperature, wind direction, water temperature etc. etc. to find any kind of pattern.

Our early Spring is now revealing the possibility of an early Fall. The leaves are starting to change color already and daily temperatures are in the 60’s. Early? Maybe, but I do know that the good Lord has a plan for everything and ours is not to wonder why, but to trust that it will all work out. Trying to figure out a pattern just makes us human.

What we do know is that the cooling temperatures put the large female northern pike on the move. This will be the case from now until the end of the season. Good for us, we will be blessed to enjoy more time chasing these fish that can make a life long memory.
