Third trip of the season started off with some great weather and great fishing. The pike are in the shallows and really keying in on the contact with the bottom. A great tactic to use during this time is to have a “throw back” rod ready for those that follow the first presentation and turn away at the last moment. Sometimes all it takes is the change in presentation, eg: contacting the bottom, that causes them to strike. There are few things more fun that watching a predator suddenly strike. Besides the trophy northern pike, our giant lake trout are ever present. Sometimes where we least expect them. Celebrating Fathers Day, we remembered those Fathers that introduced us to this wonderful sport of fishing and enjoyed watching Fathers and Sons make memories that will last a lifetime.
